In case you haven't read about it, our favorite cheat does work with Sims Medieval, but you'll have to edit a file to get it working, instead of just being able to type it into the console. Once this is turned on, it is on permanently so, you'd have to edit the file again to turn it off. PLEASE BE CAREFUL :)

This has been posted many places on the web thus far, but I saw it on SimPrograms and will type out instructions here (just a reminder, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit so my file structure might be different from yours):

NOTE: You must be Admin of your computer. You must turn off UAC controls.

1) Go to the main game folder on your hard drive, not My Documents. My path looks like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims Medieval\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Ini

2) In the Ini folder there is a file called "Commands.ini". Right click on the file and choose COPY. Then click any where in the folder or on your Desktop and choose PASTE. This copy will be a back up of the file in case something goes screwy.

3) Right click on the file "Commands.ini" and choose PROPERTIES. On the bottom of the pop-up window, you'll see Attributes and "read-only" checked. UNCHECK "read-only". Click OK.

4) Double click on the file to open it. Look for the text "TestingCheatsEnabled=0" and change that ending 0 to a 1. Save the file and close it.

That's it. This will of course, unlock all debugging tools so again, be careful. I've already experienced 2 bugged quests and been able to fix it AFTER having the debug tools enabled.

If you have any questions about getting this working, just comment. I'll edit this post with any additional help.

Also, here are cheats that periodic_toxic posted in another post:

setQP #: gives you the exact amount of Quest Points entered

Also found:

This was totally by accident. I did this myself so I know it works: if you CNTRL + click on the quest icon that is next to your Sims' picture, it will complete that quest stage. I'm glad I didn't know about this sooner or I might have let my frustrations get the best of me i.e. how am I supposed to poison someone? ohrite, I need to gather the ingredients for the poison, borrow someone's crafting table, PHAIL at making it the first time, gather the ingredients again, then know that I can't give it to them directly and somehow figure out to add it to the Ale Cask, then build up a relationship to serve it to them and hope they don't wander too far and then have them drink it. But, yeah.

[3/27/11] Also found (copied straight from the console descriptions):

DisableRespos - Will disable Responsibilities.
EnableRespos - Will re-enable Responsibilities if they are disbaled.
ShowAllQuests - Unlocks all quests - you should be able to test any quest, provided you satisfy the requirements. Run ag [text box gets cut off so I can't see what the rest of the description says].
ShowAllValidQuests - Shows all valid quests that could potentially be shown to the player right now.
ShowAllValidQuestsNoAspect - Shows all quests that could potentially be shown to the player right now, ignori [text box gets cut off so I can't see what the rest of the description says].

I can't believe there isn't a command to unlock all ambitions, or is there?!??!

I'd say thank you, but I don't have the game yet--so pre-emptive thank you? I'm glad these are possible, and this was a really well-written guide. :)

Okay, so im' trying to make this work. I have the backup saved on my desktop and when i go to save the one in the ini folder is says "access denied." I have windows 7 as well so it shouldn't be a problem, should it?

please help!

I had this problem too, vegetasbubble. You have to go to the ini file's properties, and uncheck "read-only", then hit okay.

Does your computer account have admin privileges? If not, you won't be able to un-check read-only. You'll have to change your account type first. Try going to Control Panel > User Accounts. When you see your user icon, make sure it says you're the Administrator. If not, then choose Change Your Account Type.

Also, you might need to turn off UAC controls too, but I'm not sure. Let me know if that works.

I just discovered this community now cause I got the game and was in search of help. I am running out of questpoints, only got six left, hehe and just realised I can only boost them up through acchievements which I don't really care about.

The setQP mentioned in your post doesn't work, "unknown command setQP", wonder what I am doing wrong, looks like this cheat doesn't work.

So? What do I do if I don't have any qps left? Thanks for your help :)

I'm not sure why it didn't work for you. I've done it several times now and it's working for me. Are you sure testingcheatsenabled is actually enabled?
Mar. 26th, 2011 06:22 pm (UTC)
Yeah I have. I also noticed I didn't get any medals eithers. Got all buildings and nothing happened. Weird, everything is quite buggy. Gonna start all over again and see if anything changes :)
Mar. 26th, 2011 09:33 pm (UTC)
That happened to me too, at first. I had 1 QP left, then changed it to 19, did a couple more quests, changed it to 0 just to see what would happen. Since nothing happened, I changed it back to 1 QP, did a last quest (quest was worth 4 QP). After the quest was finished, I got a grade for my Kingdom and 2 more ambitions unlocked.

I'm getting an error message that says: Cannot create the C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims Medieval\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Ini\Commands.ini file. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

I unchecked read only and I'm an adminsitrator.

I just Google'd that error and found this link:

Looks like it has to do with User Account Controls. I have them off on my comp because I hate the constant questioning from my computer so, give that a try.
